Hello All. I had to replace a leaking front seal on my RTV and thought you all might find it interesting.
I hate any kind of leaks and this repair was very easy to perform. It was a bit time consuming of course to remove the rear seat and some plastic parts to get to the front of the engine.
Front of engine - Bolt is easily removed with an impact wrench. Pulley slides off splined shaft.
Pulley removed showing seal bushing and seal
There is an Oring behind the bushing
Note that there are allignment marks on the pulley and shaft
Seal and Oring Parts
The Seal rides mostly on the inner portion of the metal bushing. I removed some crud using oiled 800 sandpaper and light polishing.
BEFORE - (Note the rear of the bushing is concave for the Oring)
AFTER
I greased the new Oring and Seal and used an old bushing from my L35 to drive in the new seal
I cleaned the pulley and reassembled (Note it is a counterweight as well as a pulley)
