L2501 here.
Is it easier to rotate the rear tires by rim and tires or do it with the center hub as a whole unit?
Is there any cons to do this if Width is not a issue?

Why do you need to rotate the tires? Are you wanting to change the width between the rear tires?

The tires have directional thread on them as far as I know. So they have to be left on the same side. You will need to move the center in the rim to change the width.

Yes I like to widen the stance. Sorry if I explained it incorrectly.
Kind of what I figured. I've done this to both tractors and it was bitch on the M6060 with loaded tires and wheel weights.

You'll have to do whatever the wheels and tires dictate based on the spacing you want. With my M6060 I had to move the right rear wheel to the left rear location and left rear wheel to right rear to get the spacing where I wanted it (second widest setting) and the tire rotation correct.

When I widened the track width on my L3800, which required the right side to go on the left and left to go on the right, It was easier for me to remove the entire rim and tire as one piece, then swap it over. Less change of scratching the rims up and easier to line up the wheel studs.

That's what I did too. Remove the wheel weights, remove the wheel, unbolt the center and flip it to the desired position, reinstall the wheel on the other side and reinstall the weights (added a third weight). The caveat is that you have to have both rear wheels off at the same time in order to accomplish this so a good jack or support system is required. Not bad for an L2501 but more involved for an M6060, but having two tractors sure helped.

That'll depend on the desired wheel setting. In my case I had to swap tires right to left and left to right after I adjusted the wheel centers so that the tread was orientated correctly. I don't know how the OPs wheels are currently set up or where he wants them to be but he might need to do the old switcheroo or might not .... just depends.

Well that is true. I didn’t think about having the tire rim combo being separated from the center. You can certainly move the tire and rim side to side and keep the rotation correct and get more separation if needed.

Here are the rear wheel spacing instructions from the MX6000 and M6060 manuals. I've numbered the different spacing set ups from 1 to 4 with 1 being the narrowest and 4 the widest. If changing spacing from 1 to 2 or from 3 to 4 or vice versa, the wheel can stay on the same side of the tractor. If changing from 1 or 2 to 3 or 4 or vice versa, the wheel will need to move to the opposite side of the tractor since the wheel is flipped around relative to the wheel center. Here's a cheat sheet.

Wheel remains on same side of the tractor
1 > 2
2 > 1
3 > 4
4 > 3

Wheel moves to the opposite side of the tractor
1 > 3
1 > 4
2 > 3
2 > 4
3 > 1
3 > 2
4 > 1
4 > 2

@sgerksinwi, you have to remove the wheel center from the axle to make most of these swaps. The only swap that would allow you to leave the wheel center on the axle is 2 > 4 or 4 > 2, but you'd still need to move the tire and rim to the opposite side.

And depending on the wheels, they may only have 2 options, like mine did ... I have the 14.9 - 26 R1's on my L5030 ...

Other slightly different models in the same "family" had four choices!

Wrong
You swap sides. Do not turn them around. The tread stays the same then.

With 2 piece rims there is many different configurations. The only thing that needs to stay the same is the direction of the tire tread.
