ROPS light install BX25D

I know there is a spot to attach the lights to the harness in the rear. Thinking all I have to do is cut the ring off and attach the proper bullet to the Battery terminal red. Mount the relay and attach the light ground to the black on rear wiring harness. The switch ground to some bare metal and cap the white signal wire since not sure it is needed?

Sure I am missing something. Thanks in advance.

Those are nice lights , hope you got them on sale ......those have come down to less than 30 for both now days on places like Amazon........

but to answer your question - I ran mine to a relay off the battery .....routed all the wires all in wire-loom up under the frame, and then up the ROPS.

BUT - there is a hot source near the 3 point :

if you are looking at the rear of the machine - there is a bundle of wire......there are two that are "black taped" off to the side.

the red wire is constant hot,
and the red with blue tracer is hot only when the key is on.

he red is 20 amps hot all the time fused at the fuse block.
The red/blue is off the DC outlet and is fused at 10 amps and switched off the key.
The black is ground. You can use a relay to control the 20 Amp with the 10 amp key switch,
that how Kubota uses it with there work light option.

Okay I think I have it. Will probably just use the rear access. Yes I got em on sale and discounted even further with a coupon. The lights two magnets and the harness came out to be under seventy bucks if I recall. The harness I bought appears to have a relay already built in it right?

the wiring harness looks fantastic, worth it's weight in gold!

You'll have no problem hooking them up ! I would suggest that you stay inside the ROPS.....unless you dont have any trees or ......low hanging doors!!!

Thanks again. Will do. Out of town this weekend but looking to get them on soon. never no when you will be in the dark in need of doin some diggin. Decided that a flashlight pointed at the backhoe wasn't good enough!

Cool. My question is can the tractor support extra lights? I have ask about plugging an inverter into the power outlet and running a light during power outages. I have a generator, but would like to run some light to my senior neighbors during an outage by parking my tractor at their home and keep them lit up. Every answer I receive is, I should plug nothing more than a cell phone charger into it. I see you tube video after video of folks adding overhead lights, ROPS lights, front bumper lights, stereos, etc. and every Kubota owner loves them and wants to copy it. I'm new to all this and simply don't understand. Believe me, I'm not being a smart ***; I really don't understand. How do we add lights to everything on the tractor, but cant run a light inside a house for folks to see during a power outage?

let me help you understand what you are up against.......
electricity is one of those things that is fairly simple yet many are scared to death of and dont really want to understand what it is.

You house runs on 120v AC and powers everything (add two legs of 120 and you get 240v for those big items) A typical good ol fashion 100w light bulb uses 120v and about 1 amp of electricity to be on.......the sad thing there is most of that electricity is going to heat!!! Now we have the little pig tail lights (cfl's) - they provide the "same" amount of light (more or less) than a light bulb, BUT 1/5 the amps! SO you use less electricity to get the "same" amount of light......

now - lets move to the tractor end......you have an onboard electrical device, a alternator! It makes AC electricity to be converted quickly back to DC electricity - the DC charges your battery along with all the other electrical needs of the tractor. IF you wanted to run more light on the tractor - USE the LED variety - they USE LESS amps than a CFL !!! and you have seen the light they give off.....

now gettting back to hooking up the INVERTER on your tractor......nope - not a good idea, now, you CAN do it, but the inverter is limited to the source of electricity - and your tractor is not THAT big of a source! YOU could run a laptop off that INVERTER - but little more than that. YOU are changing the power twice and each time you loose some juice......

YOU tractor will provide looooootttts of light (LED type) - but you will not have power for anything like a fridge or microwave.

by the time you USE your tractor and give them lights......you could buy a used generator on craigslist and you could use it anywhere you wish - and it would power all the things they would every need. Lights that would be used via your tractor would we impractical at the best.

Jay I understand what you want to do, and saving a couple bucks is pretty much at the top of everybodys list. And what the man is telling you is spot on. If lighting is all you want or need,, head to your local HF store and pick up a 3kw gen set. That will give you some lighting but not much more. Your coffee pot will use about 1500 watts or about half what that 3 kw gen set will make, and your little beast aint no where near that kind of out put.
Yes you can go to youtube and see all kinds of things people have made for off grid or for emergencys but if you are really in need of emergency power,, get your self a good gen set that will work for house duty a 5 or 6 kw unit not real expencive but will serve you for lights and a few other things. And trust me a gen set is a God send when you need one,, we lived off my old gensset for 13 days 4 winters ago, no power no water (well) gas furnace wont work everything came to a stand still,, but with the gen set life went on all most as normal.
What Im trying to say is dont try to short cut your self cause in the end it wont work like you hopped and most likely will cost you more money

Ok, I get it. lol. Was just trying to help out the neighbors. I have a troy bilt 10500 generator for home. Just can't buy one for everybody. (elderly, my parents 1 mile away or my son 2 houses away.) I guess we cant save the world. Thank you all for your input.

I know the feeling, my genny seems to go EVERY place BUT my place!!!!
In certain situations like you are describing, the genny could be shared, and what I mean, run someones fridge and what not for an hour, get it back to frozen, then move it to the next house......most people can survive the cold, well - I mean with in reason, it is the food and everything else that spoils that they wish they could save.

Jay - the flashlights they make now - will last a lonnng time on one set of batteries, so for light - make sure everyone is set on that, cheap too. You could light up several rooms for less than $50 ! and have some batteries left over! A small propane grill works wonders too!

Dont give up on that feeling of helping folks......in this world of self righteousness - a helping hand aint a bad thing!

now when you say ....draining my battery.....you are not going to plug it in and then walk away are you?

If your tractor is running, you will be in fine shape - even with the other lights you have already on.

Even if you had to leave the tractor for an hour or so with them on - a fully charged battery will make those lights burn, and even longer! a three amp draw is a little bit, but you should be fine.

Also, I bought a 4Watt LED; equal to a 25 watt bulb. I put it in a lamp then plugged it into my portable car battery jump starter's 110 outlet. It has now been on 28 hours and the power is down to 30% left on the charge. So I could loan that to a neighbor for some light during an outage.
