Working on this tired old RC-44” deck for the G5200. Kinfolk said the deck was too fer-gone to try to give it resuscitation!! It’s taking a while, but my “winter project” is proceeding at a rate that is commensurate to being finished before it’s time!! 🤣

Good work. (y)

Almost anything can be saved with enough time, metal and welding rod or MIG wire.
My only advice is to attach it to something rigid so it doesn't get out of shape when removing old metal and welding new metal.

Lookin' good - As I have mentioned before, I bought a welder and learned how to (sorta) weld whist rebuilding the deck for my G5200. I even welded re-rod around the base of the deck for stiffness. (in that groove along the back wrapping it around the left end.)

The first thing I noted when removing my mowdeck was the WEIGHT is about double that of a 'typical' riding mower. It takes 2 grown men to heft the Kubota deck onto sawhorses.

Unfortunately, now several years later, I noticed some more pinholes in my mowdeck the other day.

It is sad that Kubota chose to use poorly recycled steel to fabricate these mowdecks. I know a fella who bought a G5200 BRAND NEW back in the day and had to replace the deck (due to rust).... the 2nd deck also rusted into oblivion. (Now he uses a green mower)
