Looking for a replacement seat for a GR2100. Husband has had hip surgery and we have about 20 acres so I was thinking about getting him a new seat for Christmas. Any advice would be appreciated.

That concentric one looks great. Maybe websites will have a sales on Thursday. I've looked at the Northern and Tractor Supply websites, but was hoping someone had a recommendation.

tenn, look at item #17566 MODEL 5300 SUSPENSION SEAT at northern. They have a gift card with an orders over 100.00 and the seat is 20.00 off regular price also. I ordered one in mid August, had it delivered to a store near by and saved the shipping. The seat was for a skid loader and was a exact fit. If you have questions the reps at northern are fairly helpful. lt190b

The most comfortable seat for your husband will be an air ride seat. I know Wildfire has posted on the Grammer air seat. They are not cheap but well worth it.

Don't know about the Grammer seat. He had sent a link on the concentric low profile seat which looks good. The Michigan seat looks good also. Thinking the concentric seat will keep his hips from moving side to side since the arm rests are low. The Michigan one has arm rests that are high. Then again, what do I know....Thanks to all for your advice.

I don't think I would go with a 400+ air ride seat for a lawn mower, a large tractor maybe.
The one I posted is the high end and a very nice model, without being overkill.
From my point of view I would love that seat on a mower, it would really be supportive and comfortable! ;)

Thanks Wolfman - the 300.00 concentric seat was just marked 45.00 off, plus I used a 20.00 coupon from retail me not. I know that I could have got the 25.00 gift card, but then again I would end up buying something I do not need. Plus shipping to store was free. ended up like 250.00. Thanks for all the advice everyone!

Re: Replacement Seat Help

Wolfman - I got the seat and we took the mounting plate off the kubota. I know in the picture it is green - husband used the mower as a painting project.
Anyhow, the plate that mounts the seat to the tractor (green in picture) does not match up to the frame we took off the new seat. Thought we could move the mounting brackets on the frame guiderails using the dimples in the rail as a drill point, but they are there to keep something inside the rails, that keep the two pieces from separating.
Only options I could think of was to drill new holes in the black guiderails or attach another metal mounting plate between the green and black frame.
Thought I would check with you first, as sometimes I overlook the obvious fix or potential problem.
Thanks

Quick and simple way to do it would be to get a 2 pieces of 2" or so flat plate and attach as so, You can get such pieces at Lowes, Home depot or any steel place.

Thanks. I had kinda figured that, but your drawing helped me describe it to my husband. We will work on it Monday.

wolfman: we got it on and boy does it sit high - higher than the steering wheel. Looking for another seat. Kinda disappointed in northern that there were no instructions, no assembly parts, and the box was all torn up. Plan to exchange at northern store

In addition to the other sources mentioned, check out surpluscenter.com, too. Sometimes you can find a bargain there...:D

Wolfman:
Problems again!
Got the Highback Kubota Tractor Seat — Black, Model# 53000BK from northern.
Figured since it said Kubota - it would fit. First the holes only match with two in the seat. So that means drilling two more holes in the tractor mounting plate - no big deal, but come on Kubota!
Well thought since this has been a headache from the get go - tried it with two holes and found another problem. The level that moves the seat back and forward does not have enough clearance up top - it hits the bottom of the seat. Any suggestions.

Well after thinking of raising the seat with a piece of plywood underneath - did not work - finally came up with the solution - the level that you pull up to move the seat - we cut about 2 inches off, capped the end with the rubber tip, and now it works. Seems like a lot of work for a seat that was "made" for a Kubota. Thank goodness it is over.

Can anyone recommend a cover for a BH 92? Water gets in the seams during heavy rain. I use a garbage bag but neighbors have fun with that.
