I thought I would post as a favor to all those who have a leak at the PTO shaft. A few weeks ago there was a thread that showed how to change and what to change so I thought I would share my experience from today. The process is simple:

1. Degrease the PTO plate
2. Drain the hydraulic fluid
3. Remove the 6 plate bolts
4. With a flathead screw driver or a bent end tack remover, pry the lower part of the plate until it frees up (the top has an alignment pin so you cant start from the top)
5. Rock the plate from side to side top to bottom until it comes free
6. Remove the PTO shaft
7. Remove the race from the plate and tap the PTO seal out
8. Tap the new seal in place and replace the race.
9. Lightly oil or grease the black part of the seal and slide the PTO shaft back in place
10. Install a new gasket or use gasket maker
11. Line plate back up and install 6 bolts to spec.
12. Let the gasket dry and refill with fluid.

I was suprised how simple this was and it allows you to check for bearing issues and fluid issues.

All that being said YOU CAN DO THE SEAL CHANGE FROM THE BACK if you choose to, especially if you have just done a fluid change. To change from the rear without draining the fluid you will have to have the front wheels at least 2 or 3 ft lower than the rear to avoid the fluid rushing out.

Hope this helps someone.
