From everything I had read and heard as well as practice when not in use everything is lowered to the ground. Why do you suppose rental shops always have their FEL and other implements are as high in the air as possible? I see 2 issues with this. First safty things in the air can without warrning fall to the ground and is a PIH (Pain in the Head) when you hit them. Second I would think that that constant weight on your hydro system. Any thoughts????

I agree with you. I think the rental places that do this (not all do) are just trying to increase their street presence for advertising purposes.
I see no reason to stress the seals and valves of the hydro system unnecessarily. When I park a machine and shut it down I take the system to neutral pressures.

I'm with Kingcreek I think some of it is advertising. I know some of it is to prevent theft too. Like with a huge man lift/cherry picker or a telehandler the boom is left up so you cant steal it. Hard to pass under a birdge with a 40ft boom in the air.

My local rental used to do that with all his scissor lifts then one afternoon a big thunderstorm with high winds came thru and played dominos with them. That was a few years ago, his memory must be short because hes back to leaving them in the air.lol

Really?, I would have thought if a person could operate it enough to load it or drive it away he would also figure out how to lower the platform/boom.

Crooks as a whole are stupid!
True!
Reminds me of an incident when a county jail "guest" was taken to the ER for skull X-rays and sutures on his head. He was apparently feeling sorry for himself or going thru withdrawal or something and he put a ceramic coffee mug in a sock and whacked himself in the head with it. The jailer asked him just WTH he was thinking when he did this?
His reply, "hey we ain't rocket scientists ya know. If I was smart, I wouldn't be here!"
