Looking for some advice. I noticed one of my tie rod dust boots was torn on my MX5800. Purchased a replacement boot from the dealer. Youtube made it look easy to remove the tie rod end from the hub to replace the boot. "Just put upward pressure on the tie rod and wack the hub with a hammer and the tie rod will pop right out". Well 2 bent pry bars and days of wacking later the tie rod is still attached. I tried some tools from auto dealers but they don't quite fit (auto vs tractor I suspect). Looking for suggestions. Have not called dealer yet to see if they have tools sized for tractors. What do you think?

Are you using a BMFH (big M-F Hammer)? If you've tried different pickle forks and can't get them to work try a "stepped" tie rod fork. Next, would be ball joint breakers work...like this...

when all else fails, back the nut off until just past flush with top of the threads and whack the nut/stud.

lastly, heat. But I don't think you want to go there.

Just had this problem doing tie rods on a 3/4 ton truck. What I found that worked best is to hit the steering knuckle where the tie rod end goes through from the side (after loosening the nuts). And I mean strike it good. The hole is tapered and that broke mine loose and the tie rod popped right out. It helps if you can get some PB Blaster up in there.

I had a time with one of my BX tie rods ends.

If you have one, and air hammer does some wonders.

I jammed a pickle fork into the top end, and hammered the piss out of it on the threaded stud from below.. careful not to disfugure anything. The stud was cupped on the bottom if my memory serves.

Recently had to use heat to get the drag link off on '08 Jeep Wrangler. If none of the other suggestions do not work (all good) and it is in a safe spot heat makes it easy but may damage the joint.
