I have a drain in the center of my garage floor. It is a 3" PVC pipe that is connected to my perimeter drains. Unfortunately, it sits just a little high on one side so you need a squeegee to push the water to it. I also have two of them on the cellar floor connected to the perimeter drain. Never had a need for either of them. Put them in incase a pipe were to burst and flood the basement.

The shop where my tractor lives does not have any drains and is flat with radiant heating. I remove as much snow manually as I can outside before moving it inside. I then turn on a standby electric furnace to quickly increase the temperature to help melt any remaining snow. After this I usually do other things for a while and then mop up the floor. I also elevate the blower a bit on wood blocks so as not to create rust marks on the concrete.
Around here they have the mindset that if you have a floor drain you are going to do an oil change and dump the old oil down it, so they are not allowed. I remember years ago been involved in the building of a 30 x 30 garage to house an ambulance. They were made to install pumpable dual underground chambers like what they have in service garages.

My snowblower was encased in ice after the past weekend's storm. I positioned it so it was getting full sun and today I took advantage of the "warmth" and with the help of my pry bar I could break up the ice chunks and get the augers moving again. I also noticed that one shear pin was of a different size than the other, so I removed it to investigate. It turned out to be an undersized regular bolt had been installed. I figured out that when I was in the hospital having a hip replacement my neighbor used the tractor to clear the driveway for my wire. He broke a shear pin and replaced it with what he had available. I put the correct shear pin in its place.
