If it’s like a truck, the ECM will put it in limp mode or refuse to run.

I haven't studied the system but in addition to removing the filter it should be as simple as replacing the before and after sensors with simulators to keep the ECU happy.

Diy kits seeming to be more common every week. I see them all the time for between $1 and $2k i guess depending on quality of components and who's actually selling it. I've got a concern if you buy it from a less than reputable source and it don't do the wook as promised then the solution to correct is probably not very attractive.

i wouldnt mess with it if your not having a current issue. i have been running a l5p duramax 2021 purchased new just around 135k miles with no def dpf issues. but i use it for its intended purpose of towing. my tractor is almost 300 hours and has gone through many regens with no issues.

i wouldnt consider deleting just for the sake of deleting. if your having ongoing issues then sure it can be a thing at that point

if it aint broke dont fix it.
