I was at the range the other day and there was a ton of aluminium casings laying all about, some other sod managed to pick most of the brass ones up before i got there  Anyways I started wondering about reloading the Alu ones. I cant find anything any place on the net or from the local shops if anyone has ever tried. So has anyone tried or know of someone that has?

Thats a no no skeets......and brass can only be trimmed about 2-3 times. I have heard of alum being reloaded.....no sure I want to go there.

AND I shoot a lot of steel casings, the truth be told, the steel is a wee bit softer than the brass it replaces!!!

I have a buddy that tried reloading the aluminum ones, with a very light load, a lot of them split, and he stated they did not like to be sized either. It's just not worth it in my opinion, and some guns don't even recommend using them new, there soft and have sticking problems in the chambers( especially on sub guns)

I've read that some AL cases have a non-standard (Berdan?) primer to prevent loading easily.

I'd leave the aluminum lay. It's got terrible fatigue properties. A lot of brass scroungers leave zinc plate copper lay, and that can be reloaded. '85, are you saying that you reload steel, or that you just shoot a lot of it?
