Thanks for the tips, folks.
Checked these things with the mechanic while looking at and running the tractor engine today:
The quick couplings are connected correctly. One is male, the other female. Both come apart and go together solidly and completely.
With the engine running and moving the joystick, taking off a coupling and jamming a screwdriver into the pump-side of the coupling (to open the coupler valve) produces no fluid. (Hyd system has been topped off with fluid.)
BTW, with FEL hoses connected, no change to engine speed when moving joystick. The 3PH doesn't work either.
The mechanic fixed the frame of the FEL, but he also did some metal heating and bending on the tractor brackets that hold the FEL--including one close to the hyd pump on the right lower side of the engine (driver's perspective). I was wondering how removing and reinstalling the FEL could affect the hyd pump and maybe that is it...hmmm.
We did not check the diverter valve on the hyd block as suggested by RBergeron--will do that next.
If that's not it we will try is to see if the hyd pump is getting drive power, and if it is, what else might be wrong with the pump.
Unless someone has another suggestion...
Many thanks,
Orange Pete
