Can anyone recommend a cheap but decent quality hanging scale, preferably weatherproof, 1,000 lb capacity or better but accurate lower in the range. For weighing animals for butchering and totes of fish and lobster bait. Thanks

You have to decide to choose either cheap or decent quality

Cheap scales are typically +-5% of scale range for gosh and by golly accuracy

Buy something that's "fulfilled by amazon" that way you have free return shipping if you end up with a dud

wow, googled and found...
a $60 scale..
then saw a 'salt water fishing scale' for $950 !!!

it'd be interesting to see how accurate the $60 unit is. You could 'calibrate' it with known weights, make a chart of corrections......if needed. Strain gauge sensors tend to be very accurate and repeatable, made a lot of them 2 decades ago, sigh..
