Rear hydraulics

I am looking at possibly purchasing a LX2610 with cab loader BH. I have been told that the rear connections for the back hoe cannot be used for other attachments such as a log splitter and would have to get additional connections installed. Is this correct as I have been getting contradictory answers as well.

Yes, the BH uses the power beyond and if the BH isn’t installed it’s looped back to the tractor. Now, there’s way smarter people on this forum that will be able to explain and maybe offer, a work around.

Depending on what you want to do with your tractor it might be best to bit the bullet and get the factory rear remotes. I have an open station LX260 and got both remotes #1 is spring center # 2 is float detent. Spendy... think it was $1,200+- for the vales but I also am using them for a top & Tilt on the 3 point.

The sales person investigated further and now says that the rear remotes for the backhoe will be able to operate the log splitter. My 3ph splitter is home made with its own pto pump and reservoir at present. I am considering having the dealer set up the log splitter as well before I pick up the tractor. It will have to have all the regular hydraulic oil flushed out before connecting to the tractors hydraulic system. I think this is the way to go in the event of hydraulic issues and warranty.

Why not just leave it running with it's own pump and reservoir? Then it will work on any machine, and no risk of damage to your new tractor.

Problem is that the B7200 has a two speed PTO which I operate at 825 rpm for the splitter. I use the 6 gpm pump that I interchange between the splitter and existing backhoe. I will be selling the B7200 eventually and the B/H will go with it including the pump.
The LX2610 only has a 540 rpm pto.

Is a stand alone splitter out of the question? That would free up tractor for moving logs/splits.

Stand alone certainly has its advantages. Mine is a vertical 3ph with a hitch at the rear so I can go into the woods with a tandem trailer as well. Split wood, throw into trailer, come out of woods and haul home with my 4x4.

Makes sense. If the splitter has its own valve to operate ram (I assume it does) and it is open center, you can plumb into the backhoe circuit to operate from tractor.
