I noticed one of my anti-scalp rollers (BX 2380 with 60" deck) didn't have the grease fitting. I looked online for a parts diagram to find the part number and specifications to see I can pick one up locally or if I needed to order one. When looking at the diagram, I noticed that each roller should have two bushing which I didn't notice on mine when I took it off to install the new grease fitting.
I chatted with parts guy at dealership and he passed me off to one of the technicians who told me that often these bushings will be "melted" into the roller and not easy to see and are not replaceable. Which didn't quite make sense to me since it's a part different part/part number.
Also, every single one of my anti-scalp rollers moves side to side, when I grease it, the grease comes out of the front under the shoulder bolt (#030 in diagram) and is very visible on the outside of the roller. The tech told me there was some play but didn't know exactly how much.
I have a few questions I am hoping someone who has a BX with a 60" deck can answer:
1) Are the bushings clearly visible on your deck rollers?
2) Is there much play (side to side - down the length of the bolt, and slop around the bolt)
3) When you grease your rollers, does a lot of it come out of the front/back of the should bolt/washer and nut?
I don't see with as much movement as mine has that any grease will stay inside of the roller around the bolt. with as much play, it is as if the bolt is too long (I could add washer to bolt head) and too narrow (bolt doesn't fit snuggly into roller).
My BX is 5 years old and I have not taken any of the rollers off until now and I don't recall how much play there was when it was new.
