Hey all, I have a '85 B7200 w/ about 770 hrs and it runs and works like a champ. Just recently I've noticed , occasionally, a rattle that seems to be from the right rear tire/hub. It only happens once every revolution of the tire and to me, sounds as if a nut falls inside the hub each time. I can't imagine what it could be. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance, Kurt

A couple possibilities,
1) check the lug nuts and clamp bolts to make sure they are all tight and haven't loosened up. Loose lug nuts will make the sound you describe.
2) the outer bearing on the axle could be wearing out and going. Jack the tractor up and put a bar under the tire and see if there is any movement in the axle. If the bearing is going you want to fix it before it chews up the axle or housing.

Thanks BAP,
All nuts are secure and no noticeable play in axel. I've been wondering about something in the brake area, but looking at parts diagrams and service manual doesn't show anything that it might be. Maybe a larger piece that is still attached but a small piece has broken off and is rattling around? I don't know, just guessing.

Hi
If you describe the noise as a rattle and you have tightened all bolts including the clamp on the 6sided axel then something may be loose. There should be nothing in the tyre so we are looking at the brake drum or elsewhere.

Suggest a mechanics steathscope, jack up both wheels and listen.

Cheers and good luck
