I have the Land Pride 1260 Brush Hog. I think there is a special place in hell for the engineer(s) who designed the grease fitting arrangement. First you have to press in those silly little white tabs to slide back the PTO shield cover. The white plastic things are really flimsy design and not at all intuitive to pull back.

After the u-joints are exposed, then you try to attach the grease gun nozzle to the zerk. One of the u joints was put on backwards with the zerk impossible to connect. I tried for a half hour and then gave up. The only way I'll ever get that one greased is when the u-joint shells out.

On the other end of the drive line the u-joint zerk is accessible only if the machine is disconnected from the tractor. And since hooking up the PTO is a PITA already, I decided to wait until I disconnect the mower to grease it.

In my vision of justice the people at Land Pride responsible for this mess should be required to grease a brush hog each day before they start work and then once again before they go home. A little design change would be an easy fix. They just need motivation. Rant is done.

Agree. I drilled holes in that plastic cover for the lock-n-lube. Makes it a little easier. And don’t forget to slip the clutch before use each season. Ugg.

MrChuckles, I can tell you are a problem solver and a man of great vision. This would be a sure solution to the stupidity in the design of these things !:D
