Hi-

I have a Kubota BX1860 and have a question; anyone know if a Land Pride QH05 will work with the Heavy Hitch drawbar with the offset weight bracket?

Thanks for any info!

I think O&D Life has a video on YouTube with the QH05 and Heavy Hitch, don’t remember which model of heavy hitch he has though.

The O&D video is a great lead and indicates that the weights can hang rearward with the LP05 hitch but not to the inside, toward the tractor. The curved top on the Land Pride 05 hitch prevents that.

I have a similar question, though regarding the SpeeCo or Land Pride 10 or 15 hitches and the Heavy Hitch offset weight bracket. I wonder if you can hang a full rack of weights to the inside or whether the top of the hitch or its corner bracing prevents that?

I heard back from Heavy Hitch, and they said they used the Land Pride QH 10 and 15 when designing. So those tend to work well with their hitch. No guarantee but it sounds like the double weight racks at least stand a good chance of working best with the LP QH.

Got my Heavy Hitch today and love it. But the sway bars on my B2601 MAY prevent getting a full rack of weights on the inside. I hadn't checked into that, so I now I might have some extra weights. I don't think my eventual Quick Hitch will put the Heavy Hitch back far enough to squeeze in extra weights on the inside.

So my worry over whether a Land Pride Quick Hitch or another would get in the way of weights to the inside was misplaced. Check out your sub-compact or compact tractor before you assume the double weight rack will work. I am glad to get the 164 lbs back there though and can add to the other bar when I need more. FYI.

This is an update. Today I put bushings on my Heavy Hitch weight rack and it now works fine with my Woods Quick Hitch. ALSO: it appears that at least 3 and possibly 4 of my 41 lb weights will fit on the inside. They DO NOT appear to conflict with the sway bars or the corner bracing on the Woods Quick Hitch. The Quick Hitch seems to have helped this clearance issue by pushing the inner weight rack about 4" farther away from the sway bars.

The reason only two are shown on the inside in the pictures is I was dumb. I put the hitch on and then tried to load the rack. That works on the far rear weights. But on the inner ones inside the three-point arms, they hit the Quick Hitch, so they must be loaded before the Heavy Hitch is attached to the Quick Hitch.

Now, I don't have a rolling rack stand for my weight hitch because I don't have room on my sole bit of level cement. I plan to lower the rack onto a 6x6 block of wood or some such. The wood has to be short enough that the bushings for the Quick Hitch hooks stick beyond it. The hitch should then release, be able to be loaded, and the hitch can pick it up again.

If I can get 8 of my weights on the inner rack, that's 328 lbs, and the Heavy Hitch and the Woods Quick Hitch add another 100 lbs. That 428 lbs is about the weight of my box blade, and the hitch is a lot more compact. If I need more weight for heavier ballast, I know I can add another 328 pounds of weights to the rear. I am mostly moving mulch this summer so should be fine. My rear tires are also loaded, and I have spacers that set them out 6". All this seems to help in this extreme hill country.

I knocked together a low stand of 2x4s to load my Heavy Hitch's inner rack with weights. You have to get the Heavy Hitch up on a stand because otherwise the pins/bushings sit on the ground and you can't hook on with a Quick Hitch or must manually pick up the hitch to insert the pins in the balls of your lift arms.

I have the double hitch that can take weights on a rack to the inside and another to the rear. This permits a lot more weight to be carried. However, to use my, or any, stand—including the one Heavy Hitch sells—there must be weights on both inner and outer racks or the Heavy Hitch will topple over. I had mine secured with a chain because I was trying to fully load the inner rack and only partly load the outer rack.

While the outer rack can take eight 41-pound weights, the inner rack could only hold six on mine because the reinforced corners of my Woods Quick Hitch hit the weights to the outside of the rack. I could not hook up unless I removed two weights, leaving a total of six on the inside weight bar.

So with just six inner rack weights loaded (246 lbs), my rear ballast is 384 lbs. including the 63-pound Heavy Hitch itself and the 75-lb Quick Hitch. I can get my rear ballast up to 712 by also loading the rear rack with eight weights. Today I just put six on the rear rack.
