I just finished cleaning snow off my driveway and my neighbor’s with my L2800 FEL. About halfway through I realized I still had the 3 pt all the way down in storage position (no attachment).

So I raise it to top position, and bucket raise/lower function is sluggish. I realized I hear the pump cycling without operating the loader, so I lower the 3 pt lever about an inch. Sound stops and loader works normally.

After I realized this I worked the 3 pt lever to all levels. 3 pt functions normally. Sound present and sluggish loader function only at highest/up position of 3 pt lever. Apparently the hydraulic pump didn’t shut off when 3 pt lever is at the fully raised position.

Is this simply a lever stop missing, or does this suggest something else?

Tractor is an 06 L2800 gear model I bought 2 months ago with 750 hours. Never experienced this with previously owned L4400 and L3010.

There is a feed back mechanism on the upper arms of the 3PH that needs adjustment to stop it from going into relief on the hydraulic system

Thanks for the reply. Is this something external that I can DIY or is it a dealer svc issue? Makes complete sense, just never experienced it before.

Just another part of buying a used tractor—getting maintenance up to my high standards so it will last.

Great
Post back with what the results are for any adjustments you made so future readers will know if problems are resolved

Here is the linkage needing adjustment, under the left side of the seat connected to the base of the left side 3 pt link

Red arrow is lock nut, white arrow is the adjustment nut for the link rod. Loosen both, start tractor and warm up with 3 pt in lowered position. Raise 3 pt lever, and adjust the left (white arrow) nut until the relief valve stops, then 2 full turns past that. Tighten your lock nut and problem fixed.
