Question for B3200 (or B3300SU) owners with a Kubota backhoe

When I got my tractor the TPH lever was held in position by an L shaped metal plate and knob/bolt. It looked like it was in roughly the neutral position on the fender. The manual states that when the backhoe is attached the TPH lever must be in the down position to avoid damage to the valve.

For those of you who have a B3200 or B3300 SU with a Kubota backhoe, is the lever in the photo in the correct position or should it be farther towards the down position?

On my B2620 it has the same exact style bracket as in your picture and the lever goes all the way down and the bracket just rotates to lock the lever in place. I know it was not the model you were asking about but my instructions say the same thing to have the lever in the down postion.

I believe that the tph control should be fully in the down position. The L bracket, lock should be slid as far down as it will go.

The deal is you don't want the tph arms working. As long as the mechanism is below contacting with the backhoe frame, you are ok. If they are pushing against something, you will hear the high pitched squeal of the hydraulic oil screaming by the pressure relief valve. That can fairly quickly wreck the tph valve. You can get the same sound from the front loader when you pull on the lever after the bucket has reached its limit.
Best bet is to simply leave it all the way down. If that somehow causes a problem dragging, backing up, etc., bring it up until it squeals, or the arms hit something, or the engine changes noise the least amount, then set them back down a bit.

Thanks for the info everyone. When the tractor was delivered the lever was in pretty much the neutral position set up by the dealer. I took the tractor out the next day to try it out and I moved the hoe around a little just to see how the controls worked. I didn't hear any screaming noises so I guess I didn't break anything. I'll readjust the lock in the full down position.
