...makes me AFRAID to go to the parts store!
I'm resigned to teaching myself how to rebuild starters and alternators, to insulate myself from all the QC neglect that has bitten my a__, more frequently in later years. Yeah, sure, they're 'warrantied', but doesn't cover your R&R labor, or maybe a tow bill! Last time I changed the starter in the truck, I had the forest floor for a cushion to lay on, though the toolbox was 100 yards away...I felt lucky then...
I probably have at least two bad alts, and a wonky starter or two already.
Got all the good cores right in front of me:
- Cummins truck
- L2500
- G1800S
Now, pile on the tariffs, and it's become a no-brainer.
