PTO Surround on B2301

Looking at a B2301 and the PTO area looks like as shown in photo.
Should I be worried ?

Maybe.
It looks like a PTO shaft was too long, and yes that can cause catastrophic damage to the internals of the transmission.

YES ! Someone, somehow damaged the PTO shaft seal and used sillycon to stop the leak, maybe.....
