pto shaft

I have a L39 and am new to the tractor world , a friend gave me a rototiller and mowers with a pto shaft , all have spline fittings same as the tractor. my concern is there is no shearpin or slip clutch and have been warned of potential of breaking something ,ei- tractor, Looking for advice.

If your sure the trans doesnt have a slip clutch it is a simple matter to add one if you need it. several different styles are made, different splines, pins etc. or you could even build the pto shaft that would be the correct mating stub shafts to incorporate the clutch.
