So I was out in the woods with the L3901, just finished loading up some logs and went back out to start pushing up the brush into a big pile and wouldn't ya know it, a 1/2 thick property pin managed to find one of my loaded rear tires. So anyway, the hole left behind doesn't seem anywhere near as big as the diameter of the rebar that popped it, do you guys think a standard tire plug kit from tractor supply will be sufficient to plug a loaded tire with decent sized hole?

Lube up the hole and install a few. I've done temporary fixes on my Bronco sidewall, of 8 plugs ( severe sidewall damage) and it got me out of the woods.

Doubtful that it will hold particularly with it being loaded. Better off to break the tire down and put a heavy tire patch on the inside.

+1.

I would add: try to source a "mushroom plug" type patch -- it combines a plug with a patch. Very effective.

Well I found the hole in my tire. It took three plugs to seal it up so that it would hold fluid and air pressure. Gonna go out and do some ditch work with the tractor today and see how the plug holds up. I don't entirely trust it and I'm betting I'll end up taking the tire to the dealer to have patched from the inside still. At least for now the tractor is off the trailer and usable again.

I bought a B7100 a couple of years ago that had a hole patched with available tools.

When I broke the tire down to fix it, I discovered it was a carriage bolt with a flat washed and nut on the inside!!
