Playing with the Limbsaw

Have a dead Ash tree and decided to use it for a practice arena. Needed to trim some of the limbs so they can't reach the pipe fence or the wire fence to the South.

HOW does it attach to bucket ?

The beam fits into a 3x3 sq. tube about 8" long. It has a stop at the bottom and holes to match the beam holes and accepts a pin to keep it in place. The sq. tube has angles welded to each side and two holes each to anchor it to the back side of the loader bucket.

Any trouble moving the saw downward just a small amount at a time, given the huge lever? Do you use the bucket dump or FEL down? Float (probably not)?

I think you told us previously the mount on the back of the bucket is stock, to support the FEL when it is removed.

There is a nylon strap with ratchet on the top of the hinge joint. That is adjustable. The larger the limb the greater the angle should be, normally at about 130 deg. from the 8' beam. So if the hinge part has10 deg or so movement it's pretty easy to cut small limbs and be under control.

I needed to to that with some of the smaller limbs up high on the back side of this tree to keep any weight from falling on the pipe fence. It worked fine.

In the title I called it Limbsaw. That is actually a competitive brand. This one is LimbHog. It's built a bit heavier then the other one.

With my tractor at a low RPM (a bit above idle) this saw will cut a 4"-5" limb in a few seconds.
