I see Enamel paint offered at Amazon for Kubota and other spray paint that is substantially less. I assume it's Latex.

My B7300 looks good from 30 feet; get up close and lots of wear and tear items start to show up. Nonetheless, I want to paint the new Grab Hooks I got from Ken and would like to match paint type to avoid lifting and related problems.

How can I tell if my 1997 B7300 is painted with Enamel or Latex?

Thanks,

Gary

North 40 carries a paint in aerosol, gallons or quarts. It's called Van Sickle, and I paint my implements each season when I take them off for storage. Here's an example before and after. IMG_5243.jpg

One aerosol can will do the FEL, hoe or snow blade. It does take 24 hours to dry to the touch, but it's a thick glossy paint, and looks great till you dig again the following season. If you do the whole tractor, you can purchase hardner and a gallon.

Bearskinner, you mention, "If you do the whole tractor, you can purchase hardner and a gallon."

You don't have to paint the whole tractor!:D

You can also buy quarts and use hardner. The hardner will allow the paint to set up faster and harder. Really makes a difference if you leave equipment out in the sun. It doesn't haze over after a couple of years.

Van Sickle paint is good paint and a good company to work with. Been around for a long time. They are very helpful with getting an exact match of something, if you need it. You can send them a chip or piece of painted material you want to match and they're glad to do it. Located in Lincoln, Neb.

Guess I could have phrased that better. If you need more than a quart or two, it's cost savings to purchase a gallon. Prices locally are $3.99 an aerosol can, $9.99 a quart, and $26.99 for a gallon. The hardner comes in individually to mix with quarts. Prep is everything by the way. If you can see or feel any imperfections in the surface before painting, it will look WORSE once new paint is applied.

I got both and aerosol and a quart of orange and gray from my dealer when I bought my tractor. All paints were acrylic enamel but there are two different colors Brilliant or Bright Orange I or II The newer machines are 2, that is what I was told by the service /parts guy.

While trying to find a close match for a few pieces I've made for my L48, I stumbled across an unlikely source for us Canucks!

Off the shelf 'Kubota orange' beauty tone rust paint at Home Hardware.

I grabbed a rattle can for what I needed but they have every size up to a gallon. It's the closest match I could see next to the inside of an engine cover (everything on the outside is faded). Time will tell how well it holds up.
