Here in the land of oz i bought a 2nd hand g5200 for not much.In hot weather it gets hot very quickly.
Ive pulled out the radiator and blown out the fins and flushed it out. It has no thermostat so its not stuck and it doesnt lose any water even when its up to the red line so i am thinking its not the head gasket.
What should i do next,

Put a thermostat in it for a start. They are there for a reason, and actually control the flow so that thermal exchange can happen. Plus the usual, wash the radiator fins externally and check the water pump, fan belt tension etc. Do they have a drain cock on the side of the block, if they do use it to flush the block as well.

What should i do next,

ADD to what 100 said - place the thermostat BACK in!! Water now is circulating soooo fast that it cannot pick up the heat and then cool itself!

Also - before you place it back it - open radiator cap (with normal fluid level) and then start tractor....wait and look, are there bubbles coming to top??? The water would rise slowly in a normal system, is yours rising quickly and then bubbling out? IF so - your head gasket is at fault!!!

report back what cha find!

No bubbles in the radiator, Can you have a blown head gasket and not lose water? Thermostats on order,,,How do you check a waterpump?

I have an overheating problem also.
My questions is, can you check water pump operation
by removing the t-stat and watching for circulation in the rad ?
Its a small pump so i don't know if you can actually see the water flow without the t- stat. Does anyone know what temp that stat is ? I have ran a pressure test on the system and tested the cap with my block / cap tester. no leak down. No water in the oil. no oil in the water. i don't know anything about diesel motors. this is the first one I've owned. i have a combustion gas tester for the rad but have not used it yet. I'm thinking do the easy tests first.

In theory head gaskets can fail without pressurizing cooling systems. In reality when the fire ring fails the high pressure gas seeks the path of least resistance which is to the closest coolant passages that surround the cylinder bore.
Water pumps usually only fail in two basic ways: First the impeller can rust away or crack (plastic) and detach from the shaft. Second and most common is the seal leaks and starts dripping from the weep hole. Over time the drip will turn into a stream, progression can vary from days to years. Down side to pushing this service out is failed bearings and broken shafts. Worse case fan into radiator and destroyed housing/block.
All good advice above especially "do not run your tractor, or any engine designed for one, without a thermostat in place. The thermostat is a restrictor and controls (increases) the pressure in the head and block. Coolant pressure controls boiling temp. Lower the pressure and lower the boiling temp. Jeff
