Is it just me, or is ORD getting harder to find? I mean I am out in the sticks kind of, and there are a lot of diesels running around. And granted my 30 or 40 gallon purchases aint earth shaking, but stations that use to carry ORD, no longer carry it, and even removed the pumps in at least one case. The prices are what they are ,but paying road tax and not being on the road. OK I'm done whining now, maybe.

It may just be MY local ORD supplier…..(Pinnacle… company that took-over my 50+ year supplier formerly owned by a local family was bought-out by Pinnacle when the patriarch acquired cancer) …
…. PInnacle is the sorriest example of the modern-day business in rural America.

Pinnacle will not answer the phone except with a recording because they know “your time is important to you…so please listen as our menu has recently changed…”.

Yeah. right. (no change of course)

It makes absolutely NO difference…. you will never get a person OR be allowed to leave a recording …because the Inbox is full.

A drive to the facility …MAY…or May Not… be of any use either. It is “manned” at un-scheduled times …although the hours are “posted” they are unreliable.

However…for only $12 additional…they will Deliver Off Road Diesel. Yep. Only Twelve-bucks will get you ORD for only $4.09 …when WalMart and the local grocery will sell Road-Tax-Diesel for $3.09.

That would be IF you can ever get through to anyone to take your order.

I gave up and loaded my tank onto a trailer and hauled it to WalMart and filled it there with RoadTax Diesel and saved a buck-a-gallon.

Only had to re-insert my credit card every $99-worth of fuel to re-set the pump. I’ll keep the receipts and hand ‘em to the tax-preparer in January.

Mornin' Skeets. Wrong end of the Commonwealth to be much help, but I just had 150 gallons of ORD delivered for $3.089 a gallon, biocide included from a local company (Nevco). I do my own antigel. It seems to be available for delivery around here, but some suppliers have a minimum requirement. I use about 100 gallons per year.

4 out of the 5 gas stations in town have ORD. I used to buy from the one that didn't sell ORD since that was 50 cetane vs. 40 for the ORD. I did not notice a difference and the other places put in "Pay at the Pump" (before that you had to go inside to pay, which I hated).

Guess I'm lucky but all the fuel prices are exactly the same, so much for competition!

Lived here for 30 years now and only one station has had ORD available in all that time and it is a card-loc facility. No one around - just the pumps. But they do save me about 50 cents a gallon over the on-road diesel so I load my tank (its on a pallet) in my pickup and go fill it up when needed. Outfit does offer delivery but I use only about 100 gallons a year so I just haul it myself.

Rural region. But not really farm country. Small veggie and fruit orchards. A handful of local family dairy operations that milk less than 60 cows. Logging is less and less every year if you base it on the number of mills within a couple hours or so haul and the number of logging trucks you encounter on the roads.

Local gas stations have long ago stopped selling ORD. Guessing the ferry boats are largest users of ORD. Diesel prices at the local gas stations for whatever reason have held steady while gasoline prices have oscillated +/-$0.50/gal within a few days. Just dropped by $0.45/gal in couple days. Keep the 4th tourist happy.

That used to happen all the time to me.

It especially pissed me off when the card would reject it on the 2nd or 3rd time.

Then I started paying first and just guessing how much I needed. If you guess too high, they only charge your card for the amount you pumped, not what you "over paid" for.

The place I go to now, I use the "pay inside" button, and the clerk looks out the window, sees me, and just authorizes it, so it lets me pump what I need.

I live in a rural area with a lot of agriculture.

I can't think of anyplace that sells Off-Road Diesel at the pump.

All have diesel, but it's taxed. Some sell more than others.

Of course, this is Upstate New York, so there is a lot of Red Tape/Regulations for having that extra fuel tank in the ground.....

I buy mine where they sell a lot of product. I don't want to buy last summer's diesel in January....... 🥶 ❄

What does the other local sellers of diesel charge for fuel? (You might be surprised to find, as I did, that ORD is more per gal than ordinary taxed diesel. (Also, some states allow you to apply for the road-tax refund.)

Can't find ORD around here, but there are a couple of stations that will compute the price I pay at the pump vs the un-taxed price and only charge that amount. Takes a few minutes longer, and a trip inside the office, but I think it's worth it.

GeoHorn ,,around here diesel runs from 4.09. to about 4.39. Else where in the country the prices are better except Ca. I think we have the second highest fuel tax in the country, we were the highest but Ca raised theirs

Wow.

Last month here in Central Tx on-road diesel was $2.79 - $2.99 … This month it’s $2.99 - $3.29… depends on if you buy it at the local WalMart or Gro-Store (HEB) …or over on the main hi-way (higher-priced.)

As the economy slows and the middle-east/hormuz strait gets crazier… it may actually behave Opposite what (higher prices) pundits are forecasting. (less demand domestically in a country which produces all it consumes with less OTR freight due to reduced demand due to higher prices…… this is according to the guy who has made money for me over the last decade)

For at least 6 years I was crossing into MD where the tax was 30 cents less, just last year they raised it to just 11 cents less. I will still go there knowing it will be about breakeven considering the additional miles but it gives me warm fuzzies knowing PA ain't getting it to waste.
