What I mean is this: say I am looking for a RH side link for the 3 point hitch on my tractor. Many times there are parts that say that they fit tractor ABC but in fact they will fit, ABC, XYZ, and BR549 tractors. But the complete information needed for you to determine if the part could work for you is nowhere to be found on the products listing. Then you have to contact the seller, if they will even return your message request, to ask for the information. So just hoping som of the Companies that look at our site will see my thread and start providing detailed listing information, to include measurements, i.e., length of side link, closed length, opened length, maximum length fully extended. So we the purchaser can see what we are looking for and not have to jump through a hoop to buy the correct item. Just saying! Maybe a little venting!!

Take yours down to Tractor Supply, Rural King, Fleet Farm or similar. Their prices are very good for the generics. You won't save much buying it online unless you have to.

Hey I appreciate your response. I lived in the State of Misery, Missouri. We had Rural King and Menards there, which was really great but unfortunately here in NC. No Menards but Rural King just recently opened I believe 2 stores here, one being about 2 hours away. Tractor Supply here is not that good and pricey! Just thought I’d try online before I went shopping locally for a part that I could find online at a much lower price. I live in a farming area, matter of fact, my son in law is one of the largest farmers in Eastern NC. Farms over 10,000 acres, tobacco, soybeans, corn, sometimes cotton and wheat. Just depends if the Communists Chinese government does not flood the market with cheap cotton and wheat.
But he only deals with John Deere and the big equipment, not the small tractor like I have.
So I will continue my research and maybe I will get some good responses from the companies I have contacted about this product. But I do appreciate any feedback.

For a local farm supply store, also check for Southern States, Agri-Supply, and independent farm supplies near you. What they stock is going to vary depending on the local market but they’ll have far more supplies for tractors than Tractor Supply.

UNfortunately, TSC has become a bird-seed, clothing and toy store.

I was IN the local TSC looking for tires and tubes for the front of my 9N Ford …and the REGIONAL manager was actually there in an inspection-tour.

When I passed by him to look at the (non-existant) tires/tubes for a Ford …he offered to assist me finding what I needed.

Oops.

He turned to the store manager and instructed him to re-stock what TSC has always supposedly carried (an on their website actually shows to be in-stock).
A week later, the tires/tubes were still not in the store….so I bought them on Amazon, and had them in two days.

The THIRD week…. the TSC had them on the shelves….at 40% markup for the exact same brands as carried by Amazon. The store mgr asked if he could help me load them into my pickup…and I told him I needed them four-weeks ago… waited two weeks for his store to stock them….and gave up and bought them online.

The NEXT DAY….I walked into the store for lubricants….and the tires/tubes were no longer on the shelf. When I mentioned to an employee “I see someone already bought those …so I suppose you’ll be stocking them regularly again..??” … the employee said, “No. I was told to return them to the supplier.”

So much for TSC being a tractor-store. :sneaky:

(Amazon and Yesterday’s Tractors are better resources for traditional tractor parts.…and will save you Money and Time wasted driving to TSC.)

In my latest experience, tractor supply is neither.

Like Geo said.

But...
If in a pinch, they 'might' have a pin or snap ring in stock.

We have a Tractor Supply about 10 minutes away and we go there once in a while. It’s more of a rural lifestyle store than the Agri-Supply or Southern States type farm supply I expected based on the name. They do carry a few top links, bush hog blades, PTO shafts, and pins but it’s a pretty small section.

First time I went to a TSC it reminded me of the time I stopped at a Restoration Hardware in Durham as a side trip on my way to a business meeting in Raleigh. I was looking for a source for various antique style hardware for use in restoring furniture. Stupid me thought Restoration Hardware would have at least some minor relation to restoration hardware. It does not.

And I do agree with the OP that some things can be really hard to shop for online. If you have a part number and know exactly what you’re needing, generally not bad to source online. Industrial supplies such as Grainger, U-Line, and McMaster Carr are usually pretty good about listing detailed specs. For stuff like the leveling box, it isn’t unusual to have to call or email for the specs you need. Which I agree is pretty irritating when your just trying to find someone willing to take your money in exchange for a solution to a problem.

I agree 10,000%………….It’s just a “sign of the times” I suppose…...

Much like my local Ace Hardware has apparently become a “National Yeti Cooler Distribution Hub” and Lawn center…...

I walked in a while back looking for a “bottom tap” , and after I explained to “Little Johnny” what it was, he told me that they could order it……..I said “So can I……..and it will be on my doorstep this afternoon”.

HOWEVER; Had I needed to keep my drink cold, for 3 weeks, in a “Teal Green” or “Sunshine Yellow”, 1 quart “Super Bottle” for 50 bucks…….. they would have had no problem accommodating that request…...

These stores are fighting an uphill battle for sure…...

NOW……. GET OFF MY LAWN KID!!!!!!!!!!!! (damn I feel old sometimes:(:()...

Near Lancaster, PA, USA
Back in the 1980''s / 1990's there was a Central Tractor store just outside of Lancaster. They carried enough real parts and pieces to fix or make things. They had all sorts of implement parts. It's where I bought stub axles for a trailer build. Sadly they're history. I think they merged or were bought out and then died. We have a TSC in town, and it's handy for clips, pins, bar oil, herbicides, bungee cords, etc.

On a happy note, I'm 5 minutes from Messicks. They have anything tractor-related, outdoor equipment and general stuff of interest. They take time to answer questions and will consult one of their mechanics for any answers that the counterman doesn't have. Prices are good and the people are friendly.

I'm a bit farther from Paul B Zimmerman. It's a real hardware store with anything you could need from dishrags to tillaqe parts. I've had hydraulic hoses made on the spot. Any kind of tools, parts and pieces, hardware, rigging, pumps, radon fans, electrical and plumbing - all under one roof. They've fixed me up with wheel bearings and seals that fit my Caroni mowers, oval Nicropress sleeves, a single ball (think bearing) for the detent in a B7500 loader's joystick and a lot more over the years.
