My BX2200 was running hot. After mowing for a half hour the needle goes into the red zone. It was suggested I install a new thermostat. I did so. After warming up. Water and Steam busted out from the gasket! I did this repair twice! I used the paper gasket with "PERMATEX 2 FORM A GASKET SEALANT" on both sides of the paper gasket. The label also says "NON HARDENING PLIABLE SEALANT" Wrong Product? Something else? --- Thanks

How many hours on the machine ?

Did it ever run hot OR just all of a sudden?

IF you take the radiator cap off - and start tractor, see IF any bubbles are coming up that you can see in the radiator.

When an engine overheats, it is best to let it cool for a few hours and then start it. If it overheats in the next 10 or 15 minutes, you need professional help to repair it or a lot of good and sound advise. I am guessing that this is going to turn into "where can I find another engine for my tractor" thread.

It would not be mine but your choice of sealant is fine. If it's not holding you have an assembly problem. On thermostat housings it's usually failure to get both mating surfaces clean and flat. Broken housings are often the result.

Have radiator cap pressure tested. The cap should release pressure before it builds high enough to push a gasket out.

Sounds like running it hot screwed your head. Combustion pressure in the water jacket

Grab a combustion test kit. One with the dye that reacts to combustion. Test the coolant.

The adventure begins! Cleaned the Screen, Flushed the Radiator, Resealed the Thermostat housing with new thermostat, added flush chemical and ran for a half hour. Tomorrow I will mow then flush and add antifreeze. That is the best I can do. If that doesn't fix it it's off to the dealer. (1244 hours)
