Recently acquired some property & trying clean up. Found 2 tractor attachments hiding under some weeds n briar bushes. One is a worthington jacobsen gang reel mower, i think.
But ive no clue even what this is or how old it is or what its worth or if it should jus get hauled to scrap yard.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

No idea, but a pic of the inside of the "bed" would probably make an ID reasonably easy.

I think you need to expose it better and take a better/complete photo of it.

before you scrap it, talk to local farmers ! I've seen far too much useful farm equipment in the local scrapyard..bushhogs, tractors, balers, spud digger, manure spreaders, packers, combines....sigh....

Based on the flared sides and the wide chute looking thing with the rubber skirting, I’m guessing a bulk materials drop spreader, most likely used for bulk lime. Before hauling to the scrap yard, I’d flip it over for a couple more pics to confirm what it is and if there’s any chance it’s still functional. Most likely it’s scrap.

It looks like a Rube Goldberg lawn vac. Imagine the rubber part skimming the lawn. The part that's resting on the ground on the right side looks like a flap for unloading, operated by the pipe handle. Part of the end facing us appears to have been "repurposed" when he needed a piece of sheet metal for something else. The gear/belt reduction looks like it had the twin blowers inside revved up pretty fast.

Of all the brands of tractors there used to be, by far the most scrapped-out equipment I've seen is John Deere, likely from 'Part No Longer Available.' "I'll just park it here until I come across Part X," and that never seems to happen.

What I do know is J.D. is constantly changing its product lines. Thirty years ago a neighbor was bragging how good his J.D. lawn tractor was compared to my Simplicity; that went on for almost two years until his J.D. had a minor break down and the part was No Longer Available. Well, it should have been a minor break down, but it was a transmission part or something and the whole tractor was useless without it, and yeah, he needed a new tractor.

All these years later and J.D. is still changing production lines after a few years of making a product. In the industry I'm in I see the constant changes and how they change the internals of a machine or equipment every few years, make a run of extra parts, warehouse them, and when they're gone they're gone. From what I understand they basically buy machine tooling for making a certain part, calculate the life of that tooling, and when the tooling is worn out and in need of service they instead buy new tooling that makes a new, incompatible part.

And, with computers and not allowing owners to access "the controls of the machine," you're basically renting.

Anyway, welcome to the forum. Throw a chain on it, drag it out, and put it on Facebook Marketplace as "free to a good home" (that way you don't have to haul it to the scrapper yourself).

I was thinking down that route as well but going towards a drop manure/straw spreader.
As others have said would love to flip it right side up and see what is inside the bed.

It's not upside down. It is missing the tires which would get it up out of the dirt some. Probably need to pick up the end that is in the dirt, where the three point connects to the tractor. There is probably a mfg label riveted to the deck there.

There's an axle or spindle there with five lug bolts, so the missing wheel(s) idea is probably right.

The belts/pulleys/gears stuff without safety screens looks as if fingers or hands would be in quite some danger if put near that business while operating.

Around here, more than a few people put things like this [rusty old farm implements] out in their yards as '"art" pieces, or I assume that's why. Maybe someone would want it for this.

Please, BEFORE you scrap it, toss 2 wheels on it, get it upright and take 2-3 pictures of the 'bed' !
The PTO shaft drives sprockets and pulley to spin two 'blowers'. There's 2-$300 worth of 'drive line parts' !
What's unknown is do the blowers suck from the ground through the black chute..or do they BLOW air down to the ground ?
There HAS to be 'something' in the bed to explain what it is......

OK, some said 'ask google picture' so I did, 1st time..... this is what Google Ai says..

This appears to be a heavily rusted Precision Rosserhead Debarker, likely a Model 848H.

  • This type of equipment is used in sawmills to remove bark from logs before processing.
  • The machinery features a heavy-duty design with a 12-inch I-beam frame.
  • It includes a barn sweep in the bottom of the debarker.
  • Key components visible include a system of belts, pulleys, and a hydraulic cylinder.
yeah, I don't believe it either ......
..now I have to google PRD 848......

wow was Google WRONG !!!!!
