Of all the brands of tractors there used to be, by far the most scrapped-out equipment I've seen is John Deere, likely from 'Part No Longer Available.' "I'll just park it here until I come across Part X," and that never seems to happen.
What I do know is J.D. is constantly changing its product lines. Thirty years ago a neighbor was bragging how good his J.D. lawn tractor was compared to my Simplicity; that went on for almost two years until his J.D. had a minor break down and the part was No Longer Available. Well, it should have been a minor break down, but it was a transmission part or something and the whole tractor was useless without it, and yeah, he needed a new tractor.
All these years later and J.D. is still changing production lines after a few years of making a product. In the industry I'm in I see the constant changes and how they change the internals of a machine or equipment every few years, make a run of extra parts, warehouse them, and when they're gone they're gone. From what I understand they basically buy machine tooling for making a certain part, calculate the life of that tooling, and when the tooling is worn out and in need of service they instead buy new tooling that makes a new, incompatible part.
And, with computers and not allowing owners to access "the controls of the machine," you're basically renting.
Anyway, welcome to the forum. Throw a chain on it, drag it out, and put it on Facebook Marketplace as "free to a good home" (that way you don't have to haul it to the scrapper yourself).
