No start? Not engaging starter

I was mowing earlier and just went back outside to put the Tractor up. The key is working for the glow plugs, but not making the starter engage?

L2350

Clutch in, 4wd disengaged, kill switch disengaged, all hyd. down, in neutral.

I can't think of anything else to check.

Went back out with a jump box. When turning the key the box dropped power so something was trying to happen.

With the key off and out, I could hear the glow plugs warming up??? So a short somewhereb or bad solenoid maybe

It was a really dead battery and a pretty dead jump box.

I put the charger on it and fired it up, and the glow plugs are just randomly kicking on without the key in it.

I put a battery disconnect on it and have the charger on it with a 2 amp charge

Figure out the electrical this weekend

JDubya, tell me how you can hear glow plugs warming up. It's gotta be something else you're hearing!

I assume glow plugs. My old F250 would make the clicking noise similar to this when they were going.

Not the actual plug, maybe a relay for the plugs?

I'll try to record it when it does it again. Should have time to tinker with it Sunday

I agree with D2Cat. glow plugs don't make any noise that I am aware of. What does the sound that you are hearing resemble?

Ticking, intermittent ticking, about a second or two apart. Sounds like two different tones or maybe a fast rock and slow tick.

There are days I need to quit working on my own equipment.

The lights don't work on the tractor, but the hazard relay does...
