Hi Gang,
I was offered a L2201DT tractor if I could get it running and out of the field it had been sitting dead for a couple of years- with the engine cover off and laying on the ground next to the tractor.
I brought a new battery and fresh diesel - I tried the starter switch but nothing so out with the Swiss Army knife and I jumped the solenoid it cranked and started . then I noticed the leaking frost plug behind the alternator- I added water and drove it out of the field. all good.
Yesterday I put it up on the hoist and started chasing the wires and found one of the clutch safety switch push on connectors was unplugged. Starter switch starts it just fine now- simple fix just plugging the connectors back together. I see that the spring "hood" clamps had worked down behind the fuel filter and fouled the wires and had unplugged one.
After I put the fresh frost plug in and it starting and running just fine
cheers
Hank
