So I joined a year ago and never posted, just did some reading. So here I am having a couple questions and I need some answers or general direction pointing,

A little about myself. I am 26, have a lovely wife and daughter. I worked full time in facility maintenance and love wrenching on my old square body Cummins. I work part-time on my father in-laws place. He has 40 acres. When I dated, then married his daughter, I became chief mechanic and I do most of the mowing.

When I started dating his daughter in 2007-2008, he had an old B7100HST with a MMM and loader. It had been through hell and back. It was bought in 1994 at an auction. Somethings they did boggled my mind. Like slapping the PTO engagement lever down because pushing in the clutch made it sound like it was going to blow up (throwout bearing was toast). To keep it engaged, you kept your heel on it. I also rewelded a plate on the non-discharge side of the deck cause it was worn through.

He had also just bought a ZD28 zero turn. To date, it's had the injection pump and injectors replaced 3 times due to his other daughter filling it with gas.

So the old HST died (2 out of 3 cylinders had low compression, radiator was shot, needed a new throwout bearing, and we replaced it with a B7100 standard trans model. It came with a Woods 60" rear finishing mower. I reworked the loader bracket to fit the new tractor. Except for new glow plugs and battery, it's performed flawlessly!

Now my questions:

The ZD28 I am reading needs an updated hydro setup? Ever since I've been mowing, the right handle has always been "slower". Push them both WOT and it slowly turns right. There is also some slop in it. The left handle is responsive and works without slop. What do I need to do? In the spring, it had full oil. Any other things I need to check? It is now out of warranty so I don't want to have this thing go into the shop unless absolutely needed.

Any way to get more power out of the D750 in the B7100? Or is it better to just turbo it? I currently mow in 4th on shorter grass, 3rd on tall thin, and 2nd on tall thick. When it bogs, the smoke is thick and black. So it has the fuel I think but I don't know if the engine can stand a turbo.

The old tractor I am stripping for parts. Is the front axle swappable with the new one? The old HST looks different from the newer B7100. The newer has a ball like pivot point where the old tractor has more of a square gearbox look to it.

The old HST, is the trans worth anything? If not, I am junking most of it. The engine is going into a pit bike that I am building.

Thanks!

I just adjusted the arms on my friends zero turn mower.
Move the arm back and forth and follow the movement.
It's likely to lead to a part which looks like a turn buckle.
That should help with the adjustment.

It's a similar machine and hopefully works for you.
