I don't get as much time as I'd like to participate here on OTT, but got this orange little brother the other day and thought I'd share. I wasn't familiar with the T90 series of mowers and didn't find much here about them.

We purchased this T2090 with low hours, to replace the John Deere LA140 I bought used about 17 years ago. Transmission had been slipping and got where I couldn't get much done without letting it cool off.

Probably a similar purchase price when adjusted for inflation, but you can tell this Kubota is on a different level than the JD. Lost 6 inches in deck size, but that won't be an issue in my current use case.

The style reminds me of something from the Jetsons. The yellow tinge is from the pine pollen which has started here in AL.

Any commentary on these? Good or bad experiences? Words of advice?

Thanks,

Greg

I’ve had a T2290 for a couple years. Looks very similar to yours. Has a Kawasaki gas engine. I finish mow the lawns with it and mulch/blow leaves off the yards in the fall. I have a tractor for heavier chores so I haven’t abused it with jobs better suited to a tractor and bush hog as I have with my previous mowers.

So far, I’ve enjoyed it very much. It’s a lawn mower and aside from being able to pull something like a lawn cart or fertilizer spreader, that’s all it is. But it does that very well. It’s a common style that’s uncommonly well executed. It’s step or two above the box store MTD stuff. It’s more well thought out than the light commercial Cub ZTR it replaced. I’ve found the cut quality to be quite good. No complaints or issues so far for mine.

If it’s like mine, the break in service is quite early. As best I recall something like 15 hours. Short enough it’s easy to miss. IMG_0521.jpeg IMG_0522.jpeg

Glad to hear about your cut quality. I wasn't thrilled with that on my JD. So far I've mostly just cut down the weeds that got a running start, and dragged around a tarp loaded with yard debris we've been creating.

Mine will have the same functions as yours, with the tractor available for tractor jobs. I can't verify what maintenance was or wasn't done, so it'll be due for a full maintenance.

Thanks for the feedback,

Greg
