Just bought a '99 l48 loader backhoe. 2600 hours, appears to be in good condition. The loader and backhoe bucket are not at all dented or damaged, pins/bushings all feel tight. My plan is to get new engine, transmission, hydraulic and fuel filters from the nearest dealer, also a workshop manual.
Anything I should be aware of? Any and all comments are appreciated, this my first machine.

I'd also change out the antifreeze (maybe new thermostat) and front axle lube if not already planning to do so.

May want to check alternator/water pump drive belt(s). Just to check off the most basic wear items.

Congrats on the new machine.

Bring USB stick with you to dealer and ask for WSM and Owners' manual.

I find the pdf copies much better than the paper ones as you can print out just what you need and also, on the electrical diagrams, sometimes you can zoom in to see internal details of something like the engine stop solenoid which you cannot see on the paper copy.

Lets see...

Coolant - Zerex G-05. Long life antifreeze, minus the plastic eating 2-EHA additive..

Engine Oil - Shell Rotella T6 in 5W-40

Oil Filter - Wix 51515. Oversized version of the Kubota HH164-32430 oil filter.

If your going to do the coolant and thermostat, you might as well replace the coolant hoses too...
