I am looking at buying a new Grand L6060 from Kubota. I am wondering if this machine will run a NH 495 12 foot haybine. The dealer is telling me it will work, however I am concerned this machine will be to small. Thoughts?
curious, found the attached, maybe it'll help ?? quik read, no width so I assume 12' ??
If the 60 in L6060 means 60HP, it'll run the 495 easily....
since i don't have either I can't say 'personally', but interesting I found the report.....
A New Holland 495 Haybine typically requires a tractor with around 30-40 horsepower to operate effectively, with peak power needs ranging from 13 to 20 horsepower depending on field conditions; most experts recommend a tractor with at least 30 horsepower to ensure sufficient power for most situations.
L6060 has an engine HP rating of 62 and PTO HP of 53, now if the tractor has the weight to safely handle the pull, I'm not sure, but I would think so if you're not haying weird hills.

I ran a NH 495 12 Ft for a number of years. A lot is going to depend on what you are cutting. I used to cut a lot of brome and prairie grass with it. I mostly ran it with a JD 3010 diesel and it was a load. The JD 4020 worked better. The L6060 should handle it but you probably won't be running any races across the field. It was a happy day when that windrower left this farm. Those are a pain to put into the transport mode and I road that windrower a lot. A hyd swing is much nicer and when I went to a SP disc mower I thought I had died and went to heaven.
It will probably “Run” it ok as far as power enough to run the PTO at proper speed. But it will push the tractor around if you operate it on hills. We had one, when everything was tuned up nice, it was a nice mowing machine. Sucked, pulling the cutter bar out to sharpen or replace knives.
