This was just a proof of concept.....

I just grabbed an old chunk of wood that had been laying around outside. I think it's a 2x3...drilled a couple 1" holes in it, carved a notch for the plastic shroud <may need fine tuning yet>....attached a small pc of wood blocking under one end (barely visible on left side of shot so the board/step would lay flat. Put some grip tape on it. I added grip tape here , there and everywhere (on the mower deck, both sides) at the same time....just to help out with traction in the wet.

I think I like it, so long as I don't damage my mower. I am about 200lbs and am being careful by not jumping on the board (probably crack it and bend the mower if I did that). 20 yrs ago I wouldn't even have thought of this, but I am pushing 60 and not as flexible as I used to be.

I'd like to find a nice pc of hardwood to replace this prototype, paint it black and orange and put that in there at some point.

I have no idea what I'll do for the winter when the snowblower goes on and the mower has to come off.

nice ! looks 'ok' but.....should it be wider so your foot gets a better stability ?
just hate to think of twistin an ankle....

Yeah, I think wider would be better too, but whatever works for and suits you.
Looks like it would do the job.

Here's what I put on my deck. Simple chunk of aluminum diamond plate I had laying around and a couple of carriage bolts.

Stepping on the "No Step" warning worked for me for several years, but it's not there in winter with a snowblower. So I came up with this. Has 5 heights, pictures all the way up, and middle. Had to rebuild the mount a little when I added the cab, but it's a lifesaver.
