So I was cleaning our freestsall beef barn yesterday got 12 done and was going great had pushed some snow and was having a good day wife was helping me the beef were being pains in the butt but that's normal lol. I had run tractor for about 2 hrs and then I smelled really sooty diesel fumes. And had no power throttle was set at about 1600 rpms, and was dropping to 700rpm sounded like crap. So I stopped it idled fine. Hmm so I throttled up got to garage barely and was almost dieing out again. So I put to idle got out of cab and took side pannel off throttle up well the fuel filter was getting air some how must be through vent to tank? Filter plugged? Idk idle down bowl fills full of fuel. So to parts storevthis am get fuel filter 28.99 for same wix filter my wife finds on Amazon 12.99 for 2 free shipping... o well. Get home tractors running good wellni changed the filter anyways. Ran it forv20 min or so pushing snow cleaned around wifes chicken coop then boom its dieing again. .. back to shop. Well I pulled fuel line off from tank side of filter. Barely a drizzle of fuel. Puzzled I blew air into tank from hose and full stream of fuel. So I drained tank was under half anyways. What do I find a damn leaf! I live in vt where everyone comes to look at leaves well take them home. So I got fuel tank cleaned. Took me and my wife 3 hrs to get 1 leaf out. So gotta get clean fuel tommarow and I hope that's the end of that issue

Henry, I do to and I am so glad to have found this site I have learned a ton, but yet still have a lot to learn ran my tractor several hrs tonight fresh fuel fresh start. Ran great. Thought I'd share so if someone else had the issue it may help them. I like reading threads that start off informative and end with a good running tractor. We all live in a crazy world and gotta make things work together fix it together. I hope people could see that in the political world and further.

gee, so I'm NOT the only one with tank problems this year ! Welcome to the 'club'. Mine was a 1/4" plastic donut that required 3 days to 'find and fix.' Story in my bx23s filter post....
I'm looking for a strainer but with lockdown can't get to stores to grab 'something that'll work'.

I had to fix a disconnected hose on the fuel pump of my John Deer garden tractor last year and couldn't believe the amount of crud in the bottom of the tank. No idea how it got in there either...
