I recently bought a 500hr L3940 which came with R4s. I live in a lowland woods with clay soil and my primary tractor tasks will be forestry grappling to various ends incl. firewood, sawmilling, and hours of forest reclamation. I was concerned about traction in the frequent mud (the turf tires on my JD445 fill immediately and it'll get stuck with no load on flat ground) and after considering and pricing lots of options I bought a full set of OFA EKO studded chains from Windy Ridge. I just moved the boxes today, haven't installed them and may not immediately as the near term tasks are mostly higher ground.
I would also like to widen the stance of my tractor the rest of the way beforehand- there's one more notch of adjustment left but ill wait for a weekend when my son is here to do that.
