I had my local "auto parts store” mix up some paint for me.

They did a great job.

I would imagine that “paint matching” would be of little concern if your going to repaint the entire unit though.

We have all probably witnessed different “levels of restoration”, so I suppose that factors in too.

Good luck, and keep us updated (with pics of course ;) )
Thats a good tip @Runs With Scissors, i could take a part of the right colour and get some made up.
I like how the back looks do only want to paint the engine cover and FEL but will need to touch up here and there if i cut out some of the rusty sections on the rear fenders 👍

Just had a look at the rear wheel markings which have 2 91 stamped on them. May this be February 1991 by any chance?

if so the post 1989 orange should be a safe bet?

The guy at the “parts store” told me he found 2 possible paint codes when he looked them up.

I don’t recall him saying what the years were though.

As per post #18 from Russell King it should be the newer paint, Kubota Orange 2. It is a stronger orange, like your rear mudgards, the older orange is lighter and looks more like the front of your tractor.

As somebody suggested already, ask your Kubota dealer and give them the serial number. They should be able to give you the sales date.

Since your tractor was built during the period of the colour change and it looks like a full respray anyway, why don't you choose the colour you (or your wife ;) ) like best?

If you want I can send you (home made, with spray cans) colour cards from both. Would be in about three weeks time at the earliest though. I had made one for my paint guy because he could not find mixing information in his data base.

Thanks @Hugo Habicht thats very kind of you. However I have now ordered the later orange and chassis blue as Im confident I have identified the right colours.
in a few weeks time i will hopefully reveal what it looks like once it has been painted

Welcome to the forum. As a Yank, who served with the Royal Marines, I always envied the beauty of Dartmoor and the settlements there. You are close to heaven. Recommend you get a parts catalogue or diagram that you can trace the rod from pedal to brake. As others have pointed out, most likely rusted/seized carrier or joint. My folks had a similar model years ago and it was tippy on hills. With your hilly conditions in Dartmoor, never move your tractor with the bucket above the hood. Good luck.

Indeed it is beautiful and hilly @12251hd. Glad you have seen it and regard it so.
Thankfully our little bit is a relatively flat plot running adjacent to a stream, but yes, I have already noticed the tippyness!!

I have been spraying and tapping the left brake linkage which may have freed up about 1mm only. But my blow torch has just arrived! 😁

The change in colors was in mid '80's when the lead was taken out of paint. It cause a change in the color.
