New L4600 @ 9:30 am in the morning, fun day

L4600HST/FEL, Made the deal last Friday afternoon, but is being delivered in the morning. Felt like a kid waiting on Christmas the last few days. I had him rim guard it 80%, add in some QT pallet forks. First project is to unload some wood heating pellets off my trailer and build a ballast box. Then I need to find a good trade deal for the 7K car trailer to a 10K+ equipment trailer that is up to the task and get my Deere 4100 ready to sell.

I will post pictures this evening as if you all have not seen an orange tractor before

A buddy made his ballast box more useful that just a block of concrete...

Weighs 95% as much but its a heck more useful. Welded metal box with PVC sleeves for hand tools and chainsaw blade sleeves. Concrete filled and top coated with bed liner.

I like that one, in fact I spotted a picture of one like it last night but w/o the chain saw holders, that makes it even better as I am using this tractor for woods clearing and cleanup. I had planned on forming a wood box and then concrete pour but doing something like this and sand is better.

Will you be transporting your equipment much? Our heavy trailer isn't even licensed anymore, we do use our lighter ones quite a bit though; cheaper to rent or pay for hauling on the few occasions we need to transport.

I live across the river from Kentucky so we don't get a second look when pulling a trailer cause they have no titles or plates for them in cases of small tandoms. I am just talking about upgrading from a 7k car hauler to a 10k bumper tow tandem so it can do both. I will license and title but most don't and get by with it local. When we pull north it gets sticky and you have to be pulling with a Ky truck to get by cause you can get stopped if no plate 20-30 miles north into Indiana where the police are not used to seeing tagless trailers.

I've been all afternoon chasing a used Stihl MS260 Pro chain saw to avoid buying a new Emission compliant version !!! of all things.... seems to be a common thread for me this week.

Arkansas is 25$ for a permanent tag for a trailer. Where they stick it too ya is the personal property tax on anything registered. It goes by estimated value. Since I paid 1k for it, it's about 25 to 35 a year for the tax. Wifes car and my truck are another matter. Wifes car is 125$, my truck is 150$ for taxes, and then 25$ each to register. So it's a grand total of 350$ to 375$ to keep the two vehicles and trailer legal for a year

Gotta pay personal property tax on motor cycles, motor homes, campers, mobile homes (single wide and double wide), boats, jet ski's, and atv's (that's if dumb enough to tell them about it) and I'm sure theres more that I'm forgetting about.

No Virginia here.... Indiana .... Our trucks and cars are terrible, 400 to 600 on a new car or nice truck is the norm. $125 on my old 04 truck and 4 times that on the 14. As a state we are financially sound but I think I know why !!

Here is pictures, Like I said I was in the car all day chasing a craigs list Stihl MS260 pro saw so I did not get to play much. I did unload 1 of 3 pallets of wood heating pellets off my trailer with the pallet forks and set em in the attached garage. It was about max'd out at 1500lbs. on the QT pallet forks, light in the rear tires and all it would lift. I packed 14 bags in by the stove's indoor stash and let her do the rest of the 36 on the pallet. So much for breaking it in slow. I was showing 17 degrees when we unloaded it. Burrr..

I went to Ken's site to order hooks for the bucket but he looks to be out of stock right now. I love any kind of metal fab and have a nicely set up shop for making custom parts. Got an iron worker, lathe, saw and big belt sander Miller Tig and Mig machines that have been idle since the last race car went through so that will be fun making a few custom parts so I ordered 10 new G70 hooks and will make up some bolt on's as soon as they arrive.

Here it is posing to set the hook the day I bought it and two more arriving this morning.

Picked up this quick hitch today, and going to an ag store tomorrow to pick up my right hand grab handle and source all the proper pins and sleeves to make it fit best on the tractor. I still can't understand why they provide .777" diameter lower pins to attach to a tractor having .875" std. hookups, there must be some foreign standard to explain this... I am going to drill the QH to 7/8" on the bottom attachment points and just get a couple of 7/8" x 3" long pins for that, then the the top pin provided is 18mm so it is sloppy in the top link bar as well so It gets replaced with 3/4" too but it's provided hole in the quick hitch is sized well for 3/4" so that is a good thing and at least get the QH fitted up reasonable. Then I can go to work on the attachments. Kinda good and bad but I got rid of most of my attachments 10 years ago when I sold my 1250 massey and can be selective as I buy new again now. Just have to deal with an older LP grader blade and the new stuff should be ok, we'll see, I plan to not allow any attachment not work with this hitch.

They sell sleeves to build up your smaller CAT I pin to the CAT II or III lower clearances. Pop those on and you are good to go.

Let us know how strong your frame is. Some have suggested they bend under heavier loads.

I have three trailers.....all with permanent tags......at the TIME they were all $50 a pop...........thank god they say PERMANENT right on them....

hell even the boat trailer that I have, it has carried a boat ONCE in the last 10 years.......has a permanent tag on it .....

as IF I had to pay for rain - then the last #@%#@$@$# days I would be more broke than I am now.......as my wife says - tired of winter all ready, aint had a flake of snow nor temps in the 20's .......

you boys out west and north, send us some of that thar WHITE stuff, I'll pay tax on that too.........
