Just took delivery last week on the new tractor. Battery was cranking slow, measured voltage both running and engine off at 11.56v. Over the course of several days, I had the same results. Today the voltage before starting was about 12.4 volts. While running it was 13.1v, shut it off, now it reads 12.6v. Is this normal for a new battery? Seems to be okay now... I’m not sure I feel warm and fuzzy being a brand new machine with 2 hours on it. Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated. I never had a new battery act this way.

Battery and tractor may have sat around for a while after the battery was activated. With only 2 hours on it, it may not have been run enough to keep it charged. Get a battery tender and put on it. Given that it's winter that will keep it ready to go when you need it.

13.1v is not high enough for anything but a trickle charge. My L4060 ramps up the voltage when the rpms get over 1200 or so, otherwise I've seen as low as 12.8v at dead idle.

I would check the voltage again with the rpms at like 1500 and see if you read around 14.2-14.4.

Appreciate the help guys! Just spoke with a tech from the dealer, they want me to watch it for a while, give it a little more time. They offered to stop out or even pick it up and bring it back to their shop if I wanted. I agreed to run it and keep an eye on it for now. It’s relatively warm out here this week so it may not be a good trial week, thought I better get it logged in with service. Next week we’re supposed to get much colder. Merry Christmas!
