Sight gauge suddenly showed no level. Added a bit and it returned to acceptable level. Used about 30 mins and it is gone again. Kept adding until fill spout was full but no reading on sight gauge! New L2501 with 23 hours. What am I doing wrong? No drips or leaks observable. Would like independent feedback before contacting dealer.

I'm guessing the L2500 is different than the L3901, mine doesn't have a sight glass, it has a dip stick.
Any chance you were using your rear remotes or third function for the first time and you were filling your implements up with fluid for first time?

So you filled to filler neck with oil ?
So its over full and its hard to tell if its in sight glass.
May have to drain some out and watch sight glass closely.
If you put so much oil in it, i wouldnt run it until its at correct level.
When it was low the first time, i would think it was purging air from the loader hydraulic cylinders.

I drained it till it was back in view on the sight glass. I keep checking it and it fluctuates a lot. Sometimes it is visible. Sometimes it's not. Checked on same level slab each time. I've been wondering if it has air in the lines that is slowly being worked out. Another 15 hrs until the first fluid change and I'll see what happens.

Any air in the lines/ cylinders takes less than a min for it to get out of the system when relieved.
In order to gauge the hydraulic fluid level you would need to fill it to a spot on the gauge, run the tractor for a few minutes, working the loader to the extremes of up and down and dump and roll back, then set the loader in an simple remembered position, then recheck the level and refill it if low.
Use the tractor then return it to the same exact location and let it sit till it cools down completely, then recheck the level with the loader in the same exact position as the time you originally checked it.

See the post from North Idaho Wolfman above. As long as I park it on a level slab and let it sit it shows up.
When my 2501L had about 15 hrs on it I also noticed no hydraulic fluid visible in the sight glass. The dealer asked if the FEL was lowered to the ground and all rear implements lowered; thus relieving the hydraulic system. As it was, the FEL was in a raised position. The dealer advised that the tractor needed to be on level ground with all implements including FEL lowered to the ground.
Once I did that, fluid level in the sight glass has been exactly at mid-point every observation.
