A "Lister Petter" generator is the very best that money can buy.
150 years of Lister Petter engines made.
Few are aware of the brand!
I have a Lister Petter elec. start diesel engine setting in my barn. 12 HP, I think. I was told by a LP engineer that engine was built for the Alaska pipeline, and was run non-stop. They changed the oil while it was running. Cost $3200 back then. No longer made.

I need to use it for something before I die! It's setting on an air compressor tank and I manually turn the flywheel every once in a while.

Put an generator on the flywheel end and use it for backup power.

This is getting away from @skeets original question.

Over 4 outages, we were out for a total of 9 days in 2022.

Doesn't sound like much, but once you're out 36 hours, things get a little "gritty" to me as a customer. Unfortunately, I had one outage of 72 hours that year. Wasn't a happy customer......

A coworker was out for 36 hours couple months ago. Longest in his 33 years at his house.

All I could say was "welcome to the club."

My supplier does little/no tree management along primaries, which is leading cause of outages.

Oh, they are headquartered in Europe now.....
