Folks,

I've got a (used) B7500 last April and it appears it's getting time for a new battery -- beginning to see a little 'drag' on starting (admittedly, on cold days - i.e. S. GA - so we're not talking extreme cold - 30s or so). The battery in it is an Interstate (I assume this is a replacement for the original battery that came with the tractor).

I'm simply making a request of the 'collective wisdom' here on the forum. What brand do folks feel is a good choice?

Thanks in advance (TIA),

I asked some battery questions here a few months ago, and there were a number of recommendations about brands.

I ended up buying a battery from the local Kubota dealer, was a better price and warranty than any aftermarket ones.
The B7000 series is listed as taking a group 51 battery, but I got a 51R, which just means that the terminals are reversed. With long enough cables it does not matter. Note that the dimensions refer to the battery case size, the actual battery is smaller.
You might want to look here.

Check the cold cranking amps on your current battery.
Find the best price on an equivalent battery.
Something with a warranty
Repeat process every 5-7 years.
Brand pays no part in the buying decision of a auto battery.
I will pay more for a battery with an easy return policy.

Try Costco if one is nearby. They have a generous return policy - no questions asked. If you play it right you can have a lifetime supply of batteries. Just return it a month before the warranty expiration.

I don't do it but it can be done.

Measure your battery tray L x W x H and buy the highest CCA battery available that has the right kind of posts and on the correct side of the battery. You don't have to stick to group "X" or "Y". This is for a tractor after all.
