I just sold my l4400hst to a private individual due to the dealer offering me 3k less than a 1 day add cost me.
I'm looking to purchase a new m 5140 with hydraulic shuttle, rear remotes and loader. I was wanting a pre emission 6040 but none to be found and I will not buy an emissions tractor until forced to do so. Please advise me on this model if possible. M5140

Rodeo hunter, I bought my M5140 last August. The dealer had a few of them left, but don't think there were any M6040 or M7040's left, only the new 60 series. A few months ago I was at the dealer picking up my new grapple and asked the salesman about the availability of any M 40 series and he said no. He still gets calls for the M5140's. What gets me is the new 60 series of M's have no 50 hp range tractors. They start at 60. When I got mine it was a bargain compared to the M6060. Plus it had the pre Tier IV engine.

You may not get that many responses as there doesn't appear to be that many owners of the M5140. I've had a few times I wanted more hp, but overall I'm very happy with my purchase. Good luck in finding one. You may have to settle for a slightly used one if that's what you want.

I bought it and have 5 hrs on it now. Got it with the kubota 0 for 60 and am very pleased as I'm not an emissions fan. This was the only pre emissions tractor on the lo. I wanted a 7040 but they were do close In price with 900 hrs I really don't need the extra hp as I have an international 1256. I just needed a good loader tractor to feed wet wrapped rd bales and have around. The l4400hst would lift them but it was all it wanted and then some. That's with filled tires and something on the back like a grader box. I paid 31900 with 1600 lbs of beet juice in the reaRs.

Congrats on the new machine, lookin' good! Keep us posted on how you like the tractor and your experiences with it. My M5140 has 70 hrs now and no problems after the initial trip back to the dealer. I paid $30,500 for tractor, FEL, round bucket and rears filled with water. You've got the same tires as mine. I'd wondered how much weight the water added, so I'll guess around 30% less than yours with the beet juice.

I bought my M5140 a couple weeks ago. I was in your same shoes. Found it on tractorhouse and drove 500 miles to get it. Damn emmisions.

Mine was same price 0 for 60 and I also ended up buying a Woods RD990-X mower, a WR Long 3rd function valve for the loader, and a set of pallet forks.

I'll stretch her legs tommorrow as I have hopefully at least 100 wet bales 6x5 I'm gonna put up from an alfalfa wheat blend. Mostly waist tall wheat. I didnt buy a new brush mower but the lcd pto readout made using my tm turbo 72 rhino finish mower a breeze compared to the l4400. Plus I got a better cut, I think that's because I coukd monitor the pto and ground speed easier than with the hst

I've never had a nicer ride in a tractor seat short of a 6 figure machine designed for operator comfort power second kind of machine. I've only owned a few newer small tractors but man it beat a massey 85 and blows my l4400hst out of the water in operator comfort.

Man a 6x5' wet bale, I assume you're wrapping them, has got to be heavy. Have you ever weighed one? Don't see anyone around here doing haylage bales much bigger than 4x4'.

They end up being 5'6" x4'6" it is a 6x5 baler and yes I have them net wrapped and then line bagged wet. It's common around here. In fact a local farm implement dealer makes custom bale spears for quick attach that use 2 spears spaced about 30" and weld out of 4x4 tube steel with 1/2 walls for $400 they were having too many customers breaking the standard single spears. I have not weighed them but my neighbor uses the same guy and he feeds fat cattle using a new grinder with scale and he says 1900-2300 depending on composition of bal. Guy who bales feeds 100 cow calf pairs and says making 3 trips vs 6 trips to the field really adds up so he bought this new beast of a baler. They inhale 4x4

I had a 2008 M5040 and traded up to a cab tractor that ended up being a M6040.

When Kubota changed from the 5040 to the 5140 did they add a turbocharger and EGR valve?
