Hoping to split B7100 tractor after winter snow to check and or replace clutch. Has anyone made up any type of assembly or frame to aid in splitting and supporting both halves while it is being serviced.

Tractor has Kubota B 219 loader and ARPS 70 backhoe attached. I'm guessing I will have to remove the backhoe to do the split, but not sure, so looking for help on doing split.

My winter project will be to make up assembly so I can safely do the split. Open to suggestions from those that have tackled this before.

Also, just watched Vic's clutch video & got the idea that I should grease the clutch throw-out bearing now, while I'm using it to clear winter snow. Does anyone know where on the B7100 I will find the access point to the Zerk grease fitting for the throw-out bearing.

Thanks, Dan

I split my B7100 by keeping the rear stationary, and rolling the front away from it. You can place a stationary jack under the mid section of the tractor to support the rear. Chock the rear wheels! I used an overhead hoist to support the front section (there's not much weight on the hoist if you leave the tractor's front wheels on the ground). If you don't have an overhead hoist, you might be able to rent an engine hoist, or arrange a hoist with some scaffold and a come along.

I think you should get the backhoe and loader out of your way for this procedure. Good luck!

There should be an access panel on the side of the clutch housing (bellhousing) that allows access to the TO bearing - the L295 I just worked on has the panel on the right side (facing forward) held in place with just a screw. (here's a picture)

As for doing a clutch replacement....like mentioned, the seperation of the motor from the tranny housing should be pretty easy without the attachments.
With the front wheel attached, you weight distribution would make me think you could use a rolling stool or stand to support the motor and just slide it forward on that. You probably will have to modify it some to allow for the front driveline.....but it sounds quite "dooable".

fj40dave, thanks for the photo & info. I will look for the access port now that I have an idea where to look... You were a Big help with the visual.

MDsteve. Thank you too. You gave me a great idea. I do have an engine crane, so that will be ideal for the rolling split. What did you hook your crane onto on the front half? The B219 loader is frame mounted and such an issue to remove, I may just remove the bucket and leave the rest attached.

I'm now thinking that I should leave the backhoe on now. By extending boom to the ground & lowering stabilizers then blocking under the base of the backhoe so that it can not move that will also help to stabilize the rear of the tractor with the jack under the rear diff. My thinking is that it should be easier to roll the front back in place, if rear is rock solid and doesn't change its angle from when it was split.

Has anyone ever tried it this way? Your input & Pros and Cons welcome...

Thanks, Dan
