Little history....my first tractor was an L3010 HST (no FEL) and it served me really well for about 14 years, and then I decided to upgrade to my current tractor, an L3800HST with FEL.

I experience(d) the problems, with PTO not disengaging, starting problems (HST pedal not centering), difficulty using the turn buckles on the 3 point hook up, etc, etc. In my senior years, reliability is more important than ever.

I would like something:
Very Reliable
Something in the 36 - 50 HP range
HST
Something prior to 2014 (no emissions stuff)

Your thoughts and recommendations would really be appreciated.

What's your price range? What are your main needs? Can you swing a cab (for comfort?)... what size are your implements and do you plan to keep using them?

For a big step up, I would be look for a Grand L in the thirty, forty or fifty series. You can read about the comforts of a Grand Lxx40 series here:

Yes, a cab would be awesome, however my barn would not accommodate something that tall without some major modifications!!

Price range is open, and needs include mowing (6' brush hog & 6' finish mower), general dirt work with FEL and 6' box blade.

The Grand L 40 series seems like a great choice.....3540, 3940, 4240, or 4740?

Thanks for the "overview" link.

I've owned a 2007 L3940 HST with FEL for about three years. It had about 360 hours on it when I purchased it. I've had no mechanical issues and it handles all my implements with no problems.

Does the MX Series HST tractors(2013 and earlier) have the same PTO Cable, and HST pedal issues as the past and current L HST series?

If you get the 4740 pay attention to how the rear wheels are set. Mine are set wide and the 6' BB doesn't quite cover them. They are filled and I'm not looking forward to changing them.
