A 22 rf Colt Diamondback was one of those guns on my want list but never happened. Couple of really nice Woodsman's and Hi-Standards but no quality wheel gun.
Back in the 70's I scored a 4" Diamondback for around $300 if I recall correctly. I really wanted the 6" barrel for a longer sight radius, but couldn't find one at the time. Turned out to be an accurate revolver in spite of the shorter barrel.

BIL called me when a groundhog fell into the pit where they dumped corn for augering into their bulk bins. We didn't want to shoot into the metal-lined bin, so he raised the grating and I laid the revolver down and lowered an old plank into the pit. The groundhog seized the chance to escape and scurried up the plank and hit the ground running for the field. I grabbed the revolver, spun around and did two fast DA shots and rolled the little bugger. Although I'll admit here that there may have been some luck involved, my BIL was in awe.

I bought a 4" Colt Python in 1992 when I lived in Oregon, very near to the end of production. When I moved back to Hawaii in 1993 I read an add in a gun magazine advertising roller bearing sear conversions by a gunsmith in Tallahassee, FL. It was a good revolver before I sent it off via UPS, but it came back an exceptional revolver with a SA and DA trigger better than any I've ever encountered. I have a number of very nice custom revolvers but this one is about as good as it gets.

I swapped out the factory sights for a set from Kensight a few years ago which are significantly better. I have many firearms I'd never want to part with, and this one is near the top of that list.
